The USA non-profit, Second Wind Dreams® (SWD®), proudly joins UK partner, Training2Care Group, and offers the exclusive Dementia Interpreters Excellence pathway created by CEO Glenn Knight.
Founded in 1997 by geriatric specialist P.K. Beville, SWD is dedicated to changing the perception of aging through the fulfillment of dreams and the offering of educational programs including its flagship, sensitivity training, the Virtual Dementia Tour® (VDT®).
Second Wind Dreams serves eldercare communities across the USA by making dreams come true. In addition to fulfilling over 20,000 dreams, the non-profit has built an award-winning program that includes training and support for Dream Weavers, educational programs for eldercare professionals, and ongoing publicity efforts with local and national media.
In addition to the Dreams program, Second Wind Dreams is the home of the patented Virtual Dementia Tour® (VDT®). The VDT, created by Beville, is a scientifically proven method of training designed to build sensitivity and awareness in individuals caring for those with Dementia. Present in 20 countries and experienced by over 3 million people worldwide, the VDT is changing how dementia care is provided.
Second Wind Dreams is recognized as the first in the United States to focus on enhancing the quality of life for elders and changing society’s perception of aging by making elder dreams come true. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit is governed by a Board of Directors that provides the guidance and support necessary for Second Wind Dreams to continue its mission and expand its impact. Financial support comes from individual contributions, memberships, eldercare industry associations, religious organizations, corporate philanthropy, and revenue generated from the Virtual Dementia Tour.
